Brookings-Harbor is famous for having the mildest climate along the coast, it has been deemed “The Banana Belt of Oregon”. With temperatures staying moderate all year long, it provides plenty of opportunity to get out and enjoy the beautiful parks and ideal recreational hotspots that include activities such as camping, hiking, and fishing. Curry Coastal Pilot (Local Newspaper)
The Curry Coastal Pilot is the local newspaper that serves our community. It is published each week on Friday with several special publications including a Curry County Map, Tourist Guide, and Business Directory.
Brookings-Harbor High School
Brookings-Harbor High School is the only public school in the area with approximately 540 student in total from grades 9-12. South Coast Lumber Co. & Affiliates offers scholarship opportunities for local high school students in the community. Visit the BHHS website for more information.
Curry County 4-H Youth Development
The Curry County 4-H Youth Development program is a hands-on education program for youth ages 5-19 with trained volunteers from around the community. This opportunity provides youth with a fun way to learn valuable life lessons and skills.
Brookings-Harbor Lions Club
The Brookings-Harbor Lions Club has been serving the community since 1953. Members understand the needs of the area and volunteer their time to help make a difference.
South Coast Humane Society
South Coast Humane Society is the local animal shelter that does a phenomenal job at fostering and re-homing animals at low costs. They also have a thrift store in town that accept donations to help fund their efforts.
Oasis Advocacy & Shelter
The Oasis Shelter offers free services including a safe and supportive community living environment.
