Employee Spotlight

Randy Tuttle

Congratulations to Randy Tuttle for retiring after over 36 years with South Coast Lumber, primarily as our Road Crew Manager!

Randy has earned a reputation over the years as one of the best equipment operators this side of the Mississippi, at least we’d like to think so. For those that have read ‘Outliers’ by Malcolm Gladwell, it’s safe to say that Randy has attained the expert title by mastering the skill of machine operating with far more than 10,000 hours of deliberate practice.

One of Randy’s proudest moments at South Coast is when his crew took incredible initiative during the Chetco Bar Fire in 2017 to protect the company’s timberlands from potential detriment. If it hadn’t been for the crews brave tenacity, who knows what more could’ve happened. With the intense wildfire seasons we’ve been experiencing, we’re lucky for the crews preparedness.

We respect and understand that being in the spotlight is not Randy’s cup of tea. However, he has been a quintessential leader for our road crew for many years, and we feel it necessary to give credit where credit is absolutely due. Thank you, Randy!
