Promoting from Within

Congratulations to Rodrigo Aceves for completing his first day as a licensed Manufacturing Plant Journeyman Electrician in the state of Oregon.

Rodrigo started as a core layer on the spreaders for Pacific Wood Laminates. After several years, he decided he wanted to do something other than production. He saw strong advancement opportunities in our Maintenance Department and transferred over as an Oiler for eight months. In May of 2017, he decided to apply for and was accepted into the apprenticeship program to eventually become an Electrician.

For several years, Rodrigo balanced working full time and taking classes remotely through Umpqua Community College in Roseburg. He was not sure what to expect from this process since he hadn’t been a star student through his high school years. With determination, Rodrigo stayed patient and focused on any noticeable weaknesses that he felt he could improve on. All his hard work paid off, passing his 3-hour exam on his very first attempt!

For as long as he can remember, Rodrigo knew that he wanted to be involved with electrical systems. His excitement for turning his childhood dream into a reality is genuinely heartfelt. Rodrigo is very thankful for everyone that believed in him. His advice for anyone interested in going through the apprenticeship program is: “Don’t give up and don’t be afraid to ask questions”. Rodrigo, we are extremely proud of all your accomplishments! 🎉
